2019 has been a great year for video games and should have definitely not been excluded from our gaming radio station. These top video games of 2019 has been carefully curated and has been a pleasure to play all of them so far. 1: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

FromSoftware are well known for their punishing but fun games. Sekiro is much more forgiving than their previous titles. There is a sense of safety thanks to its checkpoint system. This allows achievements to be saved and rewarded. Sekiro is a refreshing take on an already successful formula. Players get to feel like an overpowered, sword-wielding badass.

Just Cause 4

2: Just Cause 4

People love the Just Cause games because of the open world map and fun gadgets. Earlier installments featured a wingsuit and grappling hook. These make a welcome return alongside new features such as rocket boosters. Updated environmental effects directly affect the player. They will have to look out for dangers such as thunderstorms and tornadoes as well as the usual gun toting enemies.

No Man's Sky

3: No Man’s Sky

When No Man’s Sky first launched in 2016 it was hotly anticipated. Being able to travel across a virtual universe and explore unique planets seemed like a dream come true. However, it was not until 2019 that this title was given the content redesign it deserved. It is now one of the top video games of the year. This is thanks to the immersive environments, engaging multiplayer and general sense of freedom. Players get to live out their Star Trek fantasies. What’s not to love?

Space Engineers

4: Space Engineers

This is another example of one of the top video games from 2019 set in space. However, Space Engineers is unique due to its intellectually challenging nature. Players control an astronaut who must build structures on top of an asteroid. They can be as creative as they want. Resource mining and crafting is an important part of the game. In this sense it is very much in the style of an RPG.

Metal Gear Survive

5: Metal Gear Survive

Game designing giant, Konami decided to take this popular stealth franchise in a new direction. A character known as the Captain is transported to a parallel universe and forced to survive against waves of zombies. Metal Gear Survive has satisfying solo and multiplayer modes. They feature rewarding progression systems that encourage players to keep coming back for more.

Monster Hunter World

6: Monster Hunter World (PC)

This fantasy action game was hugely successful upon its release. The main goal is to hunt down and fight a variety of different monsters. This can be done alone or with a group of allies. Once a monster is defeated they will drop loot which can be picked up and used against even fiercer foes. This encourages players to upgrade their characters and progress through the game.

SoulCalibur VI

7: Soulcalibur VI

This sixth installment of the iconic fighting series continues and updates all of the usual mechanics and features. Like Metal Gear Survive there is an emphasis on zombie slaying. Developer Konami were clearly obsessed with brain eaters this year and fans could not be happier. Being able to launch at these creatures while dual wielding bladed weapons is enough to satisfy anyone.

Devil May Cry 5

8: Devil May Cry 5

Following in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V, this game allows players to utilize three different characters. Each one is a supernatural being dedicated to destroying demons. There are numerous styles of combat to choose from. The music will even change depending on how well the player is doing in a fight. As well as the story mode there is also an arena mini game that focuses on surviving waves of enemies.


9: Battletech

Strategy is the key to succeeding in this turn based title. It is set in a science fiction world where soldiers fight each other in powerful mechanical suits. Players command a group of these “mechs” and choose their stats. There are numerous noble houses each locked in a large scale conflict. It is up to the player to decide who they fight for.


10: Kenshi

Unlike many of the other games on this list, Kenshi does not have a story to follow. Instead, players are encouraged to make up their own. Kenshi is set in an apocalyptic future where it is very hard to survive. Players choose what kind of character they want to role play as. One of the main objectives is to recruit others until an entire town of allies has been amassed.

Dead Cells

Bonus Game: Dead Cells

This indie title was a surprise hit thanks to the engaging story and integration of Twitch software. It focuses on a slime creature that controls the body of a dead prisoner. It explores a vast dungeon system filled with enemies. Dead Cells is ideal for people who like their games to have more of a challenge.
